How we can help
The BCC team offer FREE information and support to people affected by cancer in the Albury-Wodonga region. They will arrange a meeting at a location convenient to you (such as our rooms, at hospital/treatment centres or your home) to discuss your individual concerns and needs. They can then link you into the medical, allied health and community services that can help you.
Please contact us for further information or to arrange an appointment with one of our Cancer Care Coordinators or specialist cancer nurses.
What is a Multidisciplinary Team Meeting?
As part of ensuring the best possible treatment for your cancer, your treating clinician may request to nominate your case for presentation at a multidisciplinary team meeting. The purpose of presenting at a multidisciplinary team meeting is to explore all available appropriate treatment options and referral opportunities in order to enhance patient care.
A multidisciplinary team meeting is a meeting attended by health professionals who discuss and develop care plans for each individual patient.
Both clinical and psychosocial components are important factors when considering a management plan. Care plans or options arising from the multidisciplinary team meeting will be discussed with you by your treating clinician.
Consent before the meeting
If your doctor wishes to discuss your care at this meeting, they will ask you to give permission to allow this to happen.
Only relevant personal information related to your treatment and ongoing care will be presented for discussion. You have the opportunity to identify any information you do not wish to be shared with the team. You may also withdraw your consent at anytime by notifying your treating doctor.
